Adnan Savera, MD
Director of GU Pathology
Prior to joining PLUS Diagnostics, Dr. Savera served as the Medical Director and Chief GU Pathologist at LabMD, Inc based in Atlanta. Previously he has been an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University and held a staff position for 8 years at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. There he also served as the Associate Director of pathology residency program and GU pathologist for their world renowned Vattikuti Urology Institute. He has participated in numerous NIH funded research grants, consistently presented at national and international meetings and has authored more than 70 articles and abstracts related to head & neck and urologic cancers, particularly prostate cancer. Dr. Savera completed his pathology residency at Henry Ford Hospital followed by an oncologic pathology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He is board certified in anatomic pathology.
Jess Savala, Jr., MD
Medical Director, Director of Hematopathology
Dr. Savala joined PLUS Diagnostics as Director of Hematopathology from Genzyme Genetics (Los Angeles, CA) where he was the Director of Hematology for both the Physician Services and Analytical Services divisions of the company. Prior to his position with Genzyme, Dr. Savala was responsible for the medical directorship of numerous satellite cytogenetic laboratory locations of US Labs before becoming Medical Director in July of 2006. Dr. Savala holds a BS in biology and microbiology from Loma Linda University (Loma Linda, CA) and his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He completed his pathology residency at Loma Linda as well, before finishing his education with a hematopathology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles, CA) in the Department of Clinical Pathology. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematology.
Michael McGinnis, MD
Dr. McGinnis joined PLUS Diagnostics as Medical Director in December 2007. He received his medical degree from the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine. He completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at The Institute of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and a one year cytopathology fellowship at Metro Health Center. Throughout his career, Dr. McGinnis has held numerous university teaching roles, CAP committees positions, and served as Chairman on a variety of cancer committee and review boards including Chairman of the ASCP Laboratory Management and Safety Committee. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
Ali Riba, MD
Dr. Riba came to PLUS Diagnostics having served the last 6 years at Yale University in the capacity of Assistant Professor and Attending Pathologist, with his first year focused in completion of a fellowship in surgical pathology with emphasis in GI pathology. Subsequently, approximately half of his clinical work performed was in gastrointestinal pathology. He completed his residency at St. Barnabas Health Care System with rotations at Saint Barnabas, Monmouth Medical Center and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Riba received his medical degree from Tishreen University, Syria. He has authored and co-authored multiple papers focusing on his areas of interest including gastrointestinal pathology, genitourinary pathology, dermatopathology and breast pathology. Dr. Riba is board certified in anatomic pathology.
Navdeep Singh Gill, MD
Head of GI Pathology, Western region
Dr. Gill joins PLUS Diagnostics with over 10 years of experience in the pathology field. He has held several pathology leadership positions, including laboratory directorships at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Mesa View Regional Hospital, and most recently, MedLab. He has served as a GI Pathologist at Caris Diagnostics (Miraca) in Phoenix and Quest Diagnostics in Las Vegas. Dr. Gill completed a two year fellowship in gastrointestinal and liver pathology at the University of Pennsylvania, and pursued his residency at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, where he was Chief Resident for one year. Dr. Gill obtained his medical degree with honors in research from the University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Gill has done research in the field of gastrointestinal and liver pathology and is a member of the College of American Pathologists, American Society for Clinical Pathology, and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
Todd A Glauser MD, PhD
Associate Medical Director
Dr. Glauser comes to PLUS Diagnostics with a keen interest in GI pathology and toxicology. He brings over 10 years pathology experience with Affiliated Pathology Medical Group, Easton Pathology Group, and United Pathology, LTD. Dr. Glauser completed a one year fellowship in surgical pathology at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed a residency at the Department of Pathology at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina, as well as a residency at the Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Glauser obtained his medical degree from Mayo Medical School and Mayo Graduate School, where we also received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences-Pharmacology. Dr. Glauser is a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
Bisma Siddiqi, MD
Co-Director of Hematopathology
Prior to joining PLUS Diagnostics, Dr. Bisma Siddiqi served as Senior Staff Hematopathologist at Genoptix Medical Laboratories, Associate Pathologist at Irvine Regional Hospital (Irvine, CA), and Sinai-Grace Hospital (Detroit, MI). Dr. Siddiqi completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA; during her final year of residency Dr. Siddiqi concentrated primarily on hematopathology under the training of Dr. Robert Hasserjian. During this time, Dr. Siddiqi also participated in a one month hematopathology elective at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Gerald Byrnes. She went on to culminate her training at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee, WI, with a Hematopathology fellowship program under Dr. Bal Kampalath. Dr. Siddiqi has also held the position of Assistant Professor of the Department of Pathology at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. Dr. Siddiqi is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematology. She is a member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP).
Ilene B. Bayer-Garner, MD
Dr. Bayer-Garner brings to PLUS Diagnostics expansive knowledge and experience in the field of dermatopathology. After completing a pathology residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, she completed a fellowship in dermatopathology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Bayer-Garner is a prolific researcher and presenter, having published many articles and spoken at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. Dr. Bayer-Garner is a member of the College of American Pathologists and a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology.
Pradip Bhattacharjee, MD
Dr. Bhattacharjee has been Lead Dermatopathologist since the inception of PLUS Diagnostics’ dermatopathology program. Prior to PLUS, Dr. Bhattacharjee served as a dermatopathologist/senior pathologist at Quest Diagnostics. He has been an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University, School of Medicine and held a staff position at Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Bhattacharjee completed an 18-month academic fellowship in Dermatopathology at the Yale University. Prior to this, he completed a mini-fellowship at the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology with the late A. Bernard Ackerman. He completed his pathology residency training at Western Reserve Care System where he served as Chief Resident and was selected as Oncology Fellow for two consecutive years, presenting and moderating interesting and challenging oncology cases on a weekly basis. During his residency, he also served as Clinical Instructor of Pathology at Northeastern Ohio University, College of Medicine. He completed his medical school training at the St. Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospital College of Medicine, affiliated with the American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine. He is board certified in dermatopathology and anatomic pathology.
Maher Badir, MD, FCAP
Prior to joining PLUS, Dr. Badir served over 15 years as Medical Director at Quest Diagnostics and Medical Director at Empire Pathology Medical Group for over 10 years. For the past 20 years, he has read and signed out numerous prostrate biopsies and other uropathology specimens on a daily basis. Dr. Badir completed a fellowship in surgical pathology and fine needle aspiration biopsy at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Badir completed his residency at the Kettering Medical Center in Dayton Ohio, holding the distinction as Chief Resident his fourth year. Dr. Badir received his medical degree from the University of Alexandria, School of Medicine in Egypt, graduating with honors. He is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Dr. Badir is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology

Before joining PLUS Diagnostics, Dr. Chatterjee held attending pathologist positions at Columbus Hospital, Newark, NJ and The Brooklyn Hospital Center, NY. Dr. Chatterjee completed her undergraduate degree in Bombay, India, as well as her medical degree at G.S. Medical College, KEM Hospital, Bombay, India. She began her residency training at Akron City Hospital, OH and completed her residency at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, NY, an affiliate of State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook. She also completed a one year surgical pathology fellowship at Winthrop University Hospital, NY. Dr. Chatterjee is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
Kanta Davessar, MD
Dr. Davessar joined PLUS Diagnostics with more than 25 years of experience focused in gastrointestinal pathology. Throughout her career she has served as Medical Director in a variety of hospital appointments and trained GI fellows in pathology at Rhode Island Hospital. She was appointed an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UMD-NJ School of Health, and has publications in her select areas of interest such as Barrett’s Esophagus and Gastric Adenocarcinoma. Dr. Davessar completed her medical degree at Punjab University in India and her postgraduate training at Monmouth Medical Center in NJ. Dr. Davessar is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
Angela S. Eftychiadis, MD
Dr. Eftychiadis comes to PLUS Diagnostics with nearly 30 years experience as a pathologist and dermatopathologist. She has served as the Assistant Chief of Pathology and Director of Electron Microscopy at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Pennsylvania, and previously taught pathology as an assistant professor at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Eftychiadis completed a dermatology fellowship at the Institute of Dermatopathology at Jefferson Medical College, under Dr. A. Bernard Ackerman and completed her residency at the Department of Pathology at Temple University Medical Center and the Department of Pathology at Lankenau Hospital. She received her medical degree from the University of Athens, School of Medicine. She is a member of both the American Society of Dermatopathology and the International Society of Dermatology. Dr. Eftychiadis is board certified in anatomic pathology and dermatopathology.
Ruben Gamez, MD
Formerly with Specialty Laboratories as Director of Coagulation and Cellular Immunology, Co-Laboratory Director and Staff Hematopathologist, Dr. Gamez received both his BS and MD from the University of Arizona (Tucson, AZ). While still in Tucson, he completed an internship in family practice and community medicine at Arizona Health Sciences Center and then went on to a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. Dr. Gamez’ training culminated with a Donald West King fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) in pulmonary pathology, as well as a prestigious rotation in lymph node pathology at the National Institute of Health /National Cancer Institute (NIH/NCI) under Dr. Elaine Jaffe, while simultaneously completing a hematopathology fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematology.
Mariela Losada, MD
Thida Lwin, MD
Dr. Lwin comes to PLUS Diagnostics after seven years at Caris Diagnostics (Miraca) in Texas, where she was awarded status as a CarisDx-certified GI pathologist and was involved in diagnosing numerous GI biopsies on a daily basis. Dr. Lwin completed a one year surgical pathology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, and undertook her residency at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. She received her medical degree from the Institute of Medicine I at Rangoon University in Burma. Dr. Lwin is diplomate of the American Board of Pathology and a member of the College of American Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and a fellow of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. She is board certified in anatomic pathology.
Sandra T. Maia-Cohen, MD
Dr. Maia-Cohen brings PLUS Diagnostics unparalleled knowledge and experience in the field of dermatopathology. Prior to joining PLUS, Dr. Maia-Cohen worked as a dermatopathologist with the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology for 9 years, and with AmeriPath for 11 years. She was also Managing Director of the AmeriPath Cleveland lab for 2 years. Dr. Maia-Cohen completed her dermatopathology fellowship and AP/CP residency at the Ohio State University Hospitals in Columbus, Ohio, where she was chief resident for one year. She received her medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia. Dr. Maia-Cohen is a member of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the American Society of Dermatopathology. Dr. Maia-Cohen is board certified in dermatopathology
Usha Pai, MD
Dr. Pai joined PLUS Diagnostics having spent more than 13 years at Jersey City Regional Medical Center as well as two other hospitals, she has extensive experience in cytology as well as in surgical cases in the specialties of genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and gynecologic pathology. Dr. Pai is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NY and has also participated in pathology quality improvement teaching with medical residents and students at Jersey City Medical Center. Dr. Pai completed her medical degree from the Institute of Medical Sciences in Varanasi, India and went on to complete her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at University of Medicine & Dentistry in Newark, NJ and Metro Health Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. She completed her cytopathology fellowship at Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Dr. Pai is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as cytopathology.
Gloria Romerocaces, MD
Dr. Romerocaces has served the past 15 years in a variety of hospitals and out-patient reference laboratories throughout Northern NJ and NYC, including Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Overlook Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, New York Hospital and Labcorp. Dr. Romerocaces received her medical degree from the University of St. Tomas in the Philippines and completed her residency training at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. She completed cytopathology and surgical pathology fellowships at North Shore University Hospital. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as cytopathology.
Calvin L. Strand, MD
Dr. Stand joined PLUS Diagnostics with much professional experience, including positions as Director of Pathology, Jersey City Medical Center and Medical Director of Damon/Beth Israel Clinical Laboratory, Beth Israel Medical Center, New York. Dr. Strand received his undergraduate degree from University of Minnesota and completed his residency at University of Minnesota Medical School. He currently serves as Clinical Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Strand has demonstrated exceptional dedication to research, with over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and abstracts presented at scientific meetings. Dr. Strand is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as medical microbiology.
Henry Tsai, MD, PhD
Dr. Tsai comes to PLUS Diagnostics after working at the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group, as well as the Affiliated Pathologist Medical Group. He has also been a Clinical Instructor at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. He completed a one year cytopathology fellowship as well as a one year surgical pathology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. He completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Department of Pathology at UCLA. He received both his medical degree and his PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Tsai has authored articles as well as a book chapter related to urology, neurobiology, and pharmacology. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology.
Roupen Yaghsezian, MD
Prior to joining PLUS, Dr. Yaghsezian gained experience while working at prominent pathology reference labs, including AmeriPath, Quest Diagnostics, and Dianon Systems. Dr. Yaghsezian undertook a fellowship in oncologic pathology at the Fox Chase Center in Pennsylvania, a one year fellowship in surgical pathology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in California, and a fellowship in dermatopathology at the Institute of Dermatopathology in Pennsylvania, under the direction of A. Bernard Ackerman, MD. Dr. Yaghsezian completed his residency in pathology and laboratory medicine at the Western Reserve Care System, and obtained his medical degree from Yerevan State Medical Institute in Armenia. He is a member of the American Society of Dermatopathology, the American Society of Clinical Pathology, and the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Yaghsezian is board certified in dermatopathology.
