Doug Berg

Doug Berg is Chief Executive Officer of PLUS Diagnostics. A 30-year industry veteran, Mr. Berg has spearheaded the company’s transformation from a regional laboratory into a national anatomic pathology leader offering a range of specialized services. Prior to joining PLUS Diagnostics, Mr. Berg held a variety of executive management positions with leading laboratory and health care organizations. As Corporate Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Quest Diagnostics Incorporated, he helped the company nearly double its market capitalization by leading the development and execution of its growth strategy. Mr. Berg also served in senior leadership roles with Dade Behring, Baxter International Inc. and American Hospital Supply Corporation. Mr. Berg graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.

Dave Pauluzzi

David Pauluzzi is President and Chief Operating Officer of PLUS Diagnostics. A long-time executive in the laboratory and diagnostic industry, Mr. Pauluzzi has more than 20 years of finance, marketing, operations and sales experience. As a senior executive at Quest Diagnostics Incorporated, he played an instrumental role in the company’s growth. He directed operations, marketing and sales for its anatomic pathology and hospital businesses. Mr. Pauluzzi also spent 10 years in executive positions at industry- leading companies, US LABS and Ventana Medical Systems. He began his career with Abbott’s Diagnostics Division. Prior to joining PLUS Diagnostics, Mr. Pauluzzi served as a consultant with Water Street Healthcare Partners, a private equity firm focused exclusively on the health care industry and a majority owner of the company. Mr. Pauluzzi serves on the board of directors for Transgenomic, Inc. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from Loyola University of Chicago.

Tim Kennedy

Mr. Kennedy oversees the company’s financial operations. An industry veteran, Mr. Kennedy has been involved in more than 50 mergers and acquisitions in the clinical laboratory market. As a member of the senior management team at National Health Laboratories (NHL), he was instrumental in helping to build the company into a $1 billion national leader with the highest profit margin. When NHL merged with Roche Diagnostics to form LabCorp, Mr. Kennedy served as vice president of finance for the combined entity. Most recently, he was executive vice president and CFO of Diagnostic Imaging Management, a national radiology company. Mr. Kennedy received his bachelor’s degree in business from Kean University, New Jersey.

Edwin Hendrick

Mr. Hendrick is leading PLUS Diagnostics’ initiative to expand into new and specialized services that will provide enhanced value to customers. He is one of the most experienced sales and marketing leaders in the laboratory industry. Prior to joining PLUS Diagnostics, Mr. Hendrick was the vice president of sales and marketing for US LABS/Esoterix. While there, he created innovative, new programs that increased the company’s revenue and laboratory productivity. Mr. Hendrick also directed marketing and sales efforts for Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., a leading developer of medical diagnostic instruments. He began his health care career in sales management with Abbott’s diagnostic division. Mr. Hendrick holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Mohammad Kamal

Dr. Mohammad Kamal is the chief medical officer of PLUS diagnostic. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Pathology. He was born in Washington, D.C. and was raised and educated in Cairo, Egypt. After receiving his  medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine, Dr. Kamal returned to the United States to continue his studies and research in Los Angeles, CA. He completed his pathology residency at Harbor UCLA Medical Center and the Klaus Lewin GI Pathology fellowship at UCLA. He was the first Medical Director of LabCorp’s Dianon Laboratory in West Los Angeles, California.

He is a frequent lecturer at medical schools and medical conferences throughout the United States, as well as internationally, speaking on topics related to gastrointestinal and liver pathology, including inflammatory bowel disease, Barrett’s esophagus, improving the quality of GI biopsies and improving communication between pathologists and clinicians. He is an assistant clinical professor of pathology at the UCLA and is a frequent guest lecturer at Dr. Wilfred Weinstein’s famous, weekly clinical-pathological correlation conference at UCLA.

He serves as central pathologist for Clinical Trials. His early research experience was with Smith Kline Beecham Clinical Laboratories where he was a member of a team developing a point-of-care testing system. He was involved in designing a pilot study for the first long-term glucose sensor to be implanted in a human. In 2003, Dr. Kamal’s study on living donor liver transplant was selected for the Presidential Poster of Distinction Award by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).


Mark Machulcz

Mr. Machulcz is leading operations for PLUS Diagnostics. He has 23 years of diverse operations management experience working for Quest Diagnostics and one of its predecessor companies. He has implemented innovative solutions to improve quality and efficiency across many value chain activities including, Logistics, Customer Service, Field Operations, Clinical and Anatomic Pathology. Prior to joining PLUS Diagnostics he was directing operations pan India for a unit of Quest Diagnostics. Mr. Machulcz received his bachelor’s degree in medical technology from St. Louis University and his master’s degree in business administration from Johns Hopkins University.

Patricia Otto

Since joining PLUS Diagnostics in 2008, Patricia Otto has developed a comprehensive human resource organization that oversees employee relations, succession planning, compensation and benefits, and recruitment of talent at all levels.  A key participant in the company’s rapid expansion in 2009,  Ms. Otto brings to her role with PLUS more than 20 years’ experience as a human resource generalist.  Prior to joining PLUS, Ms. Otto developed the human resource function for Nydic Open MRI of America, where, as Vice President-Human Resources and Patient Satisfaction, she facilitated the company’s growth from seven to 32 centers.  She became the corporate point of contact for patient relations and, while a member of company’s Joint Commission Executive Leadership Committee, developed a well-respected patient satisfaction process.  Earlier, as the National Director of Human Resources for JWP Telecom, Ms. Otto was an integral member of the mergers and acquisitions team.  She began her human resource career with a Wall Street investment banking firm after several years in recruiting and as an educator.  She attended Jersey City State University and, as a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), is active in local volunteer committees and women’s initiative programs.
